Which species is more superior; man or woman? If we attempt to discuss this question, we would probably have to succumb to another series of never-ending polemic. The women are seeking for equality, complaining that they were always treated as second-class citizens. On the other hand, the aura of being challenged threatens the dominant males. Every aspect is being questioned as males are usually the preferred group. From law to language, everything is condemned. Can we consider this as gender discrimination? Is there such a thing as a superior species?

Lets start from the genesis. As the Christians believe, the first woman was created from a rib bone of a man. Does this imply that women are actually a secondary product? Of course not! Women are designed in the actual image of man (with certain exceptions , of course!). Women are equipped with much superiority which were never brought to light. Statistics show that women are stronger emotionally. A woman experiencing a broken relationship tends to recuperate from the grief quicker than a man. Women are filled with emotions to the brim. This explains why women either cry or jump in ecstasy when they are in exultation. Men usually keep their emotions unrevealed. Isn't strong emotion a kind of superiority?

Men are physically stronger (although some women are equally strong). This characteristic is to enable men to function as protectors and providers. Caring and sharing seems to be distinct plus points of women. This does not suggest that the previous cannot do the latter or vice versa. This simply suggests a whole, complete function as a duo. Men complement women and women complement men. Women are designed with breasts as a structure to enhance their function. The embrace of a woman displays more love and comfort because of the shape of their body. A baby is more comfortable in the arms of the mother because of the function of a woman as the paragon of love. The same baby feels more secured in the arms of the father because a man is a pillar of support. These specifications are fundamental to build a happy family.

Mental development is almost the same between the sexes. Women showcase a greater mental ability in their early teenage as their biological development starts faster than men. However, the brainpower comes to an equilibrium before the age of twenty. Women were not the first technocrats or inventors because they were deprived of education. Today, women are equally good intellectually and have proven their hidden talents in the arena of education (KMYS will be a very good example). Most recent research reveal that more and more women are going for tertiary education as a vital tool to confront the present world which is overwhelmed with plenty of tribulations. In fact, the enrolment in universities clearly shows that female scholars are outnumbering the male students. The question again is: Is this aspect a yardstick to measure the intelligence of a gender? There can be more female doctors than males, but why are neurosurgery and cardiology still the trademark for male doctors? This is probably because men put their career as their first priority where else women have to do their occupation and at the same time be 'domestic engineers'.

In conclusion, men and women are equal in all ways. If we treat a person as a human being, we are humans. If we treat an individual as a mere object, then we are dehumanizing. As the saying goes, east is east and west is west and never shall they twain. Men and women are unique individuals with special superiorities. We should learn to appreciate a person for his charisma and not magnify on his imperfection. The two genders are like the lock and the key, they can only function efficiently when both are present. So, affirm a boy (if you are a girl) or a girl (if you are a boy) to simply show that we are humans who treat humans as humans.

So many blessings to count,
But sorrow triumphs once more,
Tears flow when no one knows,
Muffled sobs no one notices,
But relief nowhere in sight.

Sweet, cheerful on the surface,
Just beneath… empty.

Best friends left behind,
Heart choked with loneliness,
Clinging; a burden
To the one pillar of support.

Words of advice uttered,
Comforting…for the moment.

I used to be somebody,
Everyone knew, everyone turn to,
Now just one in the shadows,
My own fault, true.

Is this how life will be?
Will time bring more change?
Change for the better?

But true friendship is formed slowly,
Drop by drop,
'Til the heart runs over.
