Mooncake
Festival
Colourful lanterns and enthusiastic students gave life to
the Japanese Garden on Monday night. The Chinese Club members
made the first night of October one of the most enjoyable
evenings in KMYS. However, the festival, which was supposed
to begin at 8pm, did not start until 9.15pm. Anyhow, it was
a successful event and everybody had a fabulous time. That
is the thing that matters most in any occasion.
Mr. Morris, Mr. Wilkinson and Mr. and Mrs. Beadsworth officiated
the festival by lighting up four lanterns made by the members
themselves. The lanterns represented four Chinese characters
and as soon as they were lit up, everyone could see the beautiful
carvings on the lantern. Following the opening ceremony was
a hilarious but meaningful sketch organised by the members
themselves. It starred only two characters and they were already
enough to make the sketch a successful one. We knew for sure
that Ah Beng made a beautiful and graceful lady playing aside
Ah Hong, a mighty warrior and also husband to Ah Beng's character.
The crowd just couldn't help bursting into more rings of laughter
when the confused narrators kept referring to the two characters
by their real given names.
The seniors did their part in the festival when they entertained
us with a similar dance from the movie Para Para Sakura. They
performed an energetic dance and it made most of us felt like
dancing too. However, we ought to give most of the credits
to Nazri, Sara and Kwong Lee because they were the only guys
in the group. It was a surprise to see them dance, especially
with such vitality and enthusiasm.
The best part of the evening was when everyone was invited
to join in a match dance. One thing that differentiates this
event from other events in KMYS was the fact that it involved
everyone. Everyone who joined the dance was entertained and
at the same time felt as if they were a part of the festival.
It was pretty hard to feel left out during the party. KMYS
looks forward to having more of this kind of events. Kudos!

So many blessings to count,
But sorrow triumphs once more,
Tears flow when no one knows,
Muffled sobs no one notices,
But relief nowhere in sight.
Sweet,
cheerful on the surface,
Just beneath
empty.
Best
friends left behind,
Heart choked with loneliness,
Clinging; a burden
To the one pillar of support.
Words
of advice uttered,
Comforting
for the moment.
I
used to be somebody,
Everyone knew, everyone turn to,
Now just one in the shadows,
My own fault, true.
Is
this how life will be?
Will time bring more change?
Change for the better?
But
true friendship is formed slowly,
Drop by drop,
'Til the heart runs over.
Another Droplet
