KMYS Showed True Sportmanship in KMB

The Kolej Mara Banting 7's Tournament was held on the 29th September. Our college sent two teams, KMYS A and B. Both teams were given the privilege to spend the night at Kolej Mara Banting as fixtures began at 8 am (to their dismay they had to miss Saturday classes, and not to, forget assembly as well). KMYS B was the first to play as they faced Sekolah Menengah Jejarum. The latter played very well and gave our boys a hard time throughout the whole match. KMYS B lost 17-0. Next, KMYS A faced its tournament favourites, PPP. Our boys put up a fight but went down 12-22. However, KMYS A was given a bye, thus progressed to the quarterfinal. KMYS B however had to earn their quarterfinal spot. They had to play against PTPL B and after playing their hearts out they emerged victors 21-0. This meant both our teams were in the quarterfinals. KMYS A faced the hosts, KMB A. The match proved to be a disappointing one as KMYS A was just unable to put things together. KMB A won 19-14. KMYS B's quarterfinal match saw the team working even harder. Spirits were high and it would be fair to say that they deserved their spot in the semi-finals after beating KMB B 14-7. In the semi-finals, KMYS B emerged as the victorious team by overcoming the same team that defeated KMYS A in the quarterfinals, KMB A 14-7. However, in the final, KMYS B had to face favourites PPP again. The favourites were just too good and trounced our team 28-0. Throughout the whole tournament, KMYS B played with true sportsmanship and high spirits. They truly deserve their silver medals. Well done!

GIRLS NETBALL

19TH SEPTEMBER 2001 - SAPPHIRE VS TOPAZ (ROUND 2)

Previously, these two houses had come face to face with each other in the game of netball before the mid-semester holidays. Then, Topaz with its many experienced netball players had beaten Sapphire (18 - 3). Now once again these two teams met and both had a strong urge to win. The Topaz team were there early practicing and warming up. This was followed by the Sapphire team. Unfortunately, the Sapphieriens were short of a number of players. Nonetheless, the Sapphires basketball team (fortunately they didn't have a game that day) was extremely kind and offered to fill up the missing spaces. Thank you very much for doing so, especially to Yin Tse and Shasha. They put in marvelous performances despite being basketball players. As soon as Kak Pah, the referee arrived, the game began. Both teams played their very best. All definitely full of high spirits and a never-ending urge to win for their house. Julinda, the Topaz netball team captain certainly gave good instructions to her team players and Sabrina the Topaz GS showed great performance at the hoop, aiming almost all in thus leading the team to victory. The supporters were wonderful, always telling the players to….."Sayang bola"….."Lari! Lari!"……."Satu lagi, come on!"……etc….it certainly gave everyone a boost. Well at the end of the day, Topaz won Sapphire ( 21 - 10 ). I guess it isn't so bad as this time Sapphieriens only lost by 11. We wish luck to both teams in their upcoming games.

So many blessings to count,
But sorrow triumphs once more,
Tears flow when no one knows,
Muffled sobs no one notices,
But relief nowhere in sight.

Sweet, cheerful on the surface,
Just beneath… empty.

Best friends left behind,
Heart choked with loneliness,
Clinging; a burden
To the one pillar of support.

Words of advice uttered,
Comforting…for the moment.

I used to be somebody,
Everyone knew, everyone turn to,
Now just one in the shadows,
My own fault, true.

Is this how life will be?
Will time bring more change?
Change for the better?

But true friendship is formed slowly,
Drop by drop,
'Til the heart runs over.
